چکیده

In this paper, we analize the existing algorithms for tracing straight lines and planes in voxel space. A new fast algorithm for tracing a plane is presented. The new algorithm is based on a striping technique, and is noticeably faster than existing algorithms. This comes at the expense of some precision. The algorithm has been implemented in a software environment called ELISA built to help in the diagnostic process made by physicians.

Fast System Matrix Calculation in CT Iterative Reconstruction

Introduction: Iterative reconstruction techniques provide better image quality and have the potential for reconstructions with lower imaging dose than classical methods in computed tomography (CT). However, the computational speed is major concern for these iterative techniques. The system matrix calculation during the forward- and back projection is one of the most time- cons...

Parallel unfolding and visualization of curved surfaces extracted from large three-dimensional volumes

Although many three-dimensional (3D) medical imaging visualization methods exist, 3D volume slicing remains the most commonly used technique for visualizing medical data from modalities such as CT, MRI, and PET. We propose to extend the possibilities of oblique slicing to developable curved surfaces that can be flattened and displayed in two dimensions without deformation. Such surfaces can be ...

Imaging technologies are well suited to study neuronal dendrites, which are key elements for synaptic integration in the CNS. Dendrites are, however, frequently oriented perpendicular to tissue surfaces, impeding in vivo imaging approa...

3D zigzag for multislicing, multiband and video processing

We present a 3D zigzag rafter -first in literaturewhich allows us to obtain the exact sequence of spectral components after application of Discrete Cosine Transform 3D (DCT-2D) over a cube. Such cube represents part of a video or eventually a group of images such as multi-slicing (e.g., Magnetic Resonance or Computed Tomography imaging) and multi or hyperspectral imagery (optical satellites). B...
